In its thirteenth month of operation, Eastern Alliance was assigned an A.M. Best financial strength rating, unusual for such a young company. By 2006, Eastern Alliance's A.M. Best rating was upgraded to an A- (Excellent), and in 2008 its outlook was upgraded to a postive outlook. In its 2008 rating rationale, A.M. Best recognized Eastern Alliance's "strong operational results, excellent capitalization and diversified organizational structure." The rating rationale additionally highlighted Eastern Alliance's "five-year average combined ratio, which remains well below the workers' compensation average."
